Coming home from work today was a bit frustrating as my dear husband and I were witness to a truck in front of us making a quick turn to the left to go off the road at 50 mph, straight into a power pole, which snapped in two. Then it turns out that the driver thought he could keep on driving. Sooner than later, he realized that it was silly to leave and got out to survey his now totaled one ton pick up work truck.
Power was obviously out for many folks, and I was the able body to call 911 and explain everything that had happened. When medics came to the site the driver shared with them that he was trying to avoid an animal in the road. My husband and I looked at one another and thought, "Animal, what animal?"
State Patrol obviously didn't buy it either, as he was given a special road side test and handcuffed and stuffed into the patrol car. As for us, we had to wait awhile and then write out a statement.
The Royal Mutts were quite upset as it took us another hour to get to them to allow them to relieve their bladders, but they made it. Now, as I write this post, I'm feeling relieved that the man in the truck waited to pass us by before driving off the side of the road, and I'm very thankful no on coming traffic was in the vicinity. The only casualties today was a one ton pick up, a well, and a power pole.
Live today as if it were your last, because at 5PM on country road ways, there sometimes is an intoxicated person behind the wheel and it's obvious they don't care, because to them, everything apparently looks like a deer.
